Building a New Urban Farm for Chicago offers the opportunity for teens to learn about agriculture, the impact of their food choices and how good food can taste when it is local. Teens learn how to grow and harvest food, create and sell value-added products, design logos, and prepare delicious meals.
Experiences in Cancer Biology Research and Computer Animation allows teens to nurture their interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and work toward their career goals. Teens participate in investigations in cancer research and apply computer animation to communicate their findings.
Architecture & Design: Learning in the Built Environmet connects teens to their communities by developing a better understanding of the design of the urban environment. Program participants learn the tools used by designers and architects, which they can then use to design and build projects for community organizations in need of design services.
Project L.E.A.P. (Leaders in Exercise & Active Play) Apprentices create & deliver unique, youthful messages to the Chicago community on healthy lifestyle choices. Apprentices work together as a team to encourage and motivate others to increase physical activity & improve nutritional intake through games, interactive demonstrations, & skits or songs.
