The Urban Teen/Urban Girl Magazine is a journalism program for teens interested in reporting and publishing news and current events for media placement. Teens coordinate their efforts through hard work and fun to create their own youth-inspired, camera-ready magazine publication using the latest technology.
Region 2 Apprenticeship
E.Y.E.S. is an innovative program for youth who are interested in positively impacting their community. Youth enrolled in this program will organize and sponsor community meeting/forums and produce media that will be distributed to residents and businesses in the Greater Englewood community.
Region 5 Apprenticeship
The Creative Writing program provides an environment for teens to express themselves through story. The group focuses on many different narrative forms as the teens work toward producing written stories of publishable quality. The teens also read their stories at venues throughout the City of Chicago.
Downtown Advanced Apprenticeship
Silent Echoes is a spoken word and hip-hop program designed to encourage youth to write and perform about issues that are affecting their lives. Through intense workshops, dicussions, & the use of film and art, youth explore various community issues and share their perspectives through original pieces performed at Never Silent Cafe.

Region 6 - The True Star Magazine program is extremely popular with teens, the magazine itself has proved to be a powerful marketing tool. The True Star Photography program establishes in depth the technical as well as basic visual techniques for obtaining fine photo prints.

The Spoken Word Academy trains teens for real world experiences to develop creative writing and performance skills into their own unique styles and techniques. Through hands-on, student directed activities, apprentices enhance their skills in writing, public speaking, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
Say What is Chicagos premier youth writing magazine. Developed by and for teen writers, Say What has a readership of over 20,000 people in the Chicagoland area alone, and is used in classrooms throughout the city. Student Editorial Board Members develop, design, write and edit all of the content for the magazine. No previous writing or publishing experience is required.
