COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND TEACHING ORGANIZATIONS

If you are a community organization or teaching organization, read through the following process to prepare yourself for developing a proposal.

1.    Pick a program setting

  • Community Organization Programs: If you have a computer lab, a gym, a dance studio, or another exciting space, you can run programs at your site. The space should be available after school for three hours, three days per week. If you do not have space, you can work with partners in your community. We encourage partnerships between community organizations, schools, parks, and libraries.
  • Campus-Based Programs:  Campus-based programs are primarily held at Chicago public high schools, parks, and libraries throughout the city. Summer programming primarily takes place in community organizations. Summer programs at the gallery37 Center for the Arts facility and Millennium Park are also considered campus programs.

There are opportunities available for independent instructors through the campus-based programs or After School Matters will determine a campus location and schedule for other specialized campus programming. An instructor can choose the high school of their choice from the list of identified schools.

2.    Explore our Ladder of Opportunity

We value programs that respond to teens' interests and teach valuable skills. We welcome programs at progressing skill levels according to our Ladder of Opportunity.  JUSTIN NEEDS TO REWRITE.
