KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Peter Cunningham
Asst. Secretary for Communications and Outreach
Department of Education

After School Matters ® and The Collaborative for Building After-School Systems (CBASS) hosted an enriching two-day conference designed specifically for providers and supporters of high school out-of-school time programs.

There are distinct challenges and opportunities to working with teenagers. After School Matters and CBASS believe it is important to convene a national conference targeting providers and supporters of high school out-of-school time programs to dialogue about promising practices in youth programming, creating innovative and engaging opportunities for teenagers, measuring the success and outcomes of programming and advocating for older youth programs during these challenging economic times when funding for older youth programs is extremely competitive. Given the challenges of sustaining programming with funding cutbacks, an increased emphasis on the longer school day and the slow growth in high school graduation rates, the time to support and learn from one another is now!
