gallery37 programs expose teens to various disciplines within the arts, including visual, performing, culinary and media arts. Teens are given a creative outlet for expression, as they improve their talents leading to public performances and marketable pieces.

Below are some sample gallery37 programs:

club37 - Break Dancing

The Break Dancing club gives teens the opportunity to practice their moves and learn new ones from friends in a safe and supervised environment. Bring some music and your creativity, and prepare to have fun!

Pre-apprenticeship - Ethnic Dance

This pre-apprenticeship instructs teens in the art of ethnic dance movement, an ancestor of today's hip-hop movement. Participants learn how to condition their bodies, and discuss a range of issues, such as cultural dance, nutrition, body image, self-confidence and self-respect.

Apprenticeship - Mural Painting

The murals created in this program are designed to celebrate the theme of Chicago's immigrants and their art and customs. Apprentices learn to integrate creativity with history as they cultivate their artistic vision. Activities include visual research, visits to ethnic neighborhoods, sketching murals, architecture and streets that capture the character of community life.

Advanced Apprenticeship - Graphic Design

Graphic Design apprentices work on commissions for downtown clients where they use digital technology tools to structure information for print and display. Apprentices use both traditional and digital design methods and develop visual communication skills through exercises in symmetry, grid, typography and image making.

Internship

gallery37 internships place teens in many different arts-related fields, such as providing assistance to a professional artist, working in an art gallery, or providing arts administration assistance for an organization.
