Reconnect with us!
For 25 years, After School Matters programs have been inspiring Chicago teens as they develop their skills and discover brighter futures.
Alumni of our programs have gone on to achieve great academic and professional success. Any individual who completed an After School Matters program and is no longer in high school is considered a member of our Alumni Community. What began as a summer arts program in 1991, known then as Gallery 37, has grown to five content areas across the entire city of Chicago. Although we have grown and expanded, After School Matters was originally known as the Gallery 37 program. This was a proud chapter in our history, and Gallery 37 alumni are vital members of the After School Matters community.
Meet an alum!
“I felt, at 17, that I was doing something for myself. My self-esteem grew and I established self-confidence through my program.”
— Daniella Jones
Columbia College Chicago student
Programs: Theater and video production
Time in programs: 4 years
