Interns provide peer tutoring & mentoring for the
younger children in our organization during the program hours. We also employ youth in community businesses and within the program to provide assistance in daily administration operations. Youth are taught time-management and problem solving skills as well as the ability to handle performance pressures with the implementation of the internship.
Participants learn advanced bike repair and assist with school age earn a bike programs.
The West Haven Sports Club ('The Sports Club') provides youth a structured outlet for active learning in such areas as leadership, discipline, teamwork, communication, etc. Interns learn the ins and outs of baseball in such areas as coaching, designing a practice, mentoring youth and peers, developing presentations to the team, developing and implementing strategy, etc.
This program provides the interns with an understanding of various paths to careers in media. We assist the youth by extracting hidden talents, further developing marketable employment skills, providing hands on media training, and exposing them to professionals in the field. Additionally, this program is designed to get young people to express themselves; to get them comfortable with using a wide range of art as a means of storytelling.
The Urban Explorers Native Science Program gives teens the opportunity to participate in the implementation of a culturally based (Native American) science curriculum. Teens analyze the progress of program participants and develop a plan to increase their success in the program. The interning teens work as both a researcher and teacher assistant.
Local-Motions Theatrical Production trains teens to assist with theater summer programs as junior counselors in our After School Matters Internship program. No experience necessary but commitment is essential.
Region 6 - The Beverly Arts Center offers hands-on internships in Stage Management, Directing, Costume Design and Construction, Set Design and Construction, Graphic Design, Arts Administration, and Arts Education (including dance, drama, music, and visual arts).
Interns are responsible for assisting with the implementation and organization of activities within various work groups with The Boulevard Experience summer program. The Interns assist work groups of six (6) apprentices, following the instructor's work plan of assignments and activities for each week. Interns work with a different group each week, having the opportunity to expand their development with different individuals in different situations, while being supervised in a safe, supportive environment.
The Art Packing Intern will assist and work under the supervision of the Packing Staff in receiving and unpacking, and packing and shipping, works of art to and from the Art Institute. Duties include helping to load and unload works of art, database entry, and creating labeling and storing packing materials, and creating packing solutions.
Museum Education Student Programs Interns work with staff to provide experiences for students groups and teens in the museum. Interns help tour leaders to welcome, organize, and guide groups through the galleries, as well as facilitate studio activities offered in conjunction with student tours. They also assist with programs for teens.
