We are thrilled to announce that Conagra Brands Foundation recently made its first gift to After School Matters! Their $50,000 grant supports the implementation of four fall culinary programs serving 75 teens in the South Shore, North Lawndale, Humboldt Park, and Lincoln Square neighborhoods. Teens in the programs learn basic knife skills, cooking methods, recipe reading, and budgeting.
On November 15, we visited teens in our South Shore Chefs program and saw them working together to create a meal. Some of the delicious items included mac and cheese, chicken wings, and pumpkin turnovers. Though this program, teens share their meals with community members to promote healthy eating and civic leadership.
